And why she deserves the Miss Universe crown.
Last Monday, 22 year-old Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017.
She made history as the second Miss Universe winner from South Africa since Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner.
But other than her beauty and the confidence she displayed from the preliminaries to the coronation night, there is more to Demi than what meets the eye.
Here are the top reasons why we love the new Miss Universe and why she deserves the most coveted crown:
1) She puts her family first.
As Miss South Africa 2017, she travels all over her country to promote the organization and its causes.
But despite being away from her family for the most part, she makes sure that she still gets to spend time with them whenever possible — a quick stopover to her hometown or take her mum as her date to a charity gala!
And speaking of family, she is a proud momma to this little fur ball:
2) She invests in her health.
And she likes a good workout.

3) She believes education is a universal right.
Our new Miss Universe finished a B.Com Business Management and Entrepreneurship degree at North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Knowing the value of a college degree firsthand, Demi advocates for education and women empowerment.

In all aspects.
