Written by Prashanti Mohanan

We are almost done and dusted with 2015 and with the dawn of every new year, we get to look forward to new styles and trends in the fashion world. For us fashion-lovers, it’s immensely exciting to see the myriad new collections put out by designers for SS16. Here are four trends that we found being featured in several designers’ SS16 collections.

1. Electrifying Color and Prints

Vibrant color is the trend du jour so embrace your flamboyant side with eye-catching shades like fuchsia and sunset orange. Designers like Reem Acra and Naeem Khan have released brilliant collections defined by ravishing color and exquisite design elements like lace or tulle overlays.

2. Relaxed And Romantic Silhouettes

One key trend that can be noticed across collections this season is designers’ affinity for loose and relaxed silhouettes with intricate detailing or appliqués. Flowing skirts and dresses in romantic hues dominate the runways of SS16, especially so in the collections of Michael Kors and Prabal Gurung.

3. Patterned Dyeing

Putting a ‘haute’ spin on tie-dyeing and other patterned dyeing techniques seemed to be another design element of choice for several designers this season. Designers like Chloé, BCBG Max Azaria, and Altuzarra featured impeccable patterned dyeing technique in their collections.

4. Earthy Hues

Neutral and earthy color schemes were also a popular choice for designers like Alberta Ferretti and Balmain whose collections were predominated by shades of brown such as caramel, chocolate and rust. Brown, a top color pick for SS16, is a color that we can look forward to seeing incorporated into fashion over the course of the next year!
