It might be because of the showers that Mother Nature has #blessed us with lately that makes it so much harder to get up than normal. With skipping work for an unimportant excuse being non-negotiable — even during the rainy season — and violating the office dress code unacceptable, it is best to compromise: bringing “loungewear” to the office, but in a cute and fashionably appropriate way.

Whether you work a desk job from 9–6, or out in the field as a photographer or makeup artist, it’s always best to look put together. The way you dress is a natural extension of who you are. Using the rainy season as an excuse to come out of the house looking messy is a no-no, so be sure to incorporate these looks into your life in order to look put together five days a week.

1. All Black

Whether it’s a day in advance or the day of, putting an outfit together can be stressful, especially if you are a fickle-minded individual that changes multiple times before heading out the door. If this sounds like you then wearing all black is your best bet — look good in an instant without having to put too much thought or effort into your outfit.

Two of the simplest pieces you can pair together are a black top and a pair of loose trousers, or even a pair of comfy leggings. Finish the look off with platform heels, trainers, or ballet flats (depending on the vibe you’re going for!) — and you are definitely good to go.

2. Cheetah Girl Meets Rocker Chick

Although it is more of a casual summer piece usually paired with denim shorts or trousers, graphic tees add that edgy flair to any look. With an array of styles and colors to choose from, and depending on your office dress code — you can opt to pair it with a dainty maxi skirt and a pair of Doc Martens, or maybe even tuck it into a pair of flowy trousers, finishing off the look with a blazer or leather jacket and booties!

Fashion aside, wearing a graphic tee can be an opportunity to wear your mood on your sleeve. An instant conversation starter, you can use it as an excuse to go on about your insane record collection or show off your musical allegiance.

3. Stealing My Boyfriend’s Clothes

At the end of the day, what is the point of looking good if you will feel miserable?” says Lauren Conrad. Dressing to the nines will instantly make you feel like a million bucks and give you that much needed confidence boost; but comfort, on the other hand, is known to be key when it comes to fashion…especially if you are working a 9–6. Sitting at a desk for eight (or more) hours can be draining in itself, and the only thing people want to do at the end of a tiring day is to take everything off and change into something comfortable.

Although trendy, form fitting pieces can be so uncomfortable at the end of a long day, and oversized pieces like sweaters are instant game changers because they can be layered on top of shirts, polos or dresses, adding pizzazz to any outfit. Pair oversized sweaters with leggings or trousers and flats, or dress it up by layering it over a longer shirt dress, finishing everything off with some heels and a clutch.

4. All Dolled Up

It is a known fact that women who often say “I have nothing to wear” actually mean “People have seen me in this numerous times. I need to find something else, STAT.”

Sometimes, a shirt and skirt or a pair of trousers combo just won’t cut it — and women can get lazy to pick something out, too. That being said, sporting a dress is the best option, especially on lazier days. Comfort aside, a dress is the easiest fashion piece to put on and instantly makes women feel pretty and confident.

Versatile, it can be layered on top of a long-sleeved t-shirt on colder days and, dressed up or down by matching it with heels, trainers, or platform shoes and a leather or denim jacket on top!

5. Jump To The Rhythm

Just like dresses, jumpsuits can be the perfect go-to fashion piece when you want to put on something as quickly as possible — while still making a statement. The wonderful thing about jumpsuits are that they look good in any color and immediately make you look taller and put together.

Similarly to other closet staples, jumpsuits are easily paired with different transitional pieces — from heels and blazers, to denim jackets and trainers; this closet must-have can be worn to any occasion. You can opt to go for a monochrome jumpsuit or be bold by sporting something printed!
