Motorbike enthusiast, singer, devoted husband and father, entrepreneur and of course — one of the country’s most sought after actors.

Multifaceted as he his, other things that keep Jericho busy are his barbershop and blog. Having launched last year, he refers to his blog as his “online baby” — describing the platform as “an online space for surfing, motorcycle and men’s lifestyle enthusiasts” meant to “empower and influence men to live a life of wander, adventure and compassion.” Fittingly, Iconic American denim brand Wrangler named Jericho the official ambassador for their True Wanderer Campaign for the second year in a row.

The campaign is a nationwide search for individuals who have an undying thirst for adventure, travelers who go deeper than just the usual tourist sites, individuals who inspire through their travels and do so passionately.

Want to get to know Jericho more? Check out how he answered our questions below.

What does the term “True Wanderer” mean to you?

Being a true wanderer is both retrospective and introspective, it’s about disconnecting and connecting and going out of your comfort zone to explore and discover.

And how does it feel to be Wrangler’s True Wanderer ambassador ?

I feel very proud to be an advocate of adventure — It’s an exciting responsibility to have. If anything, it feels like I’m on the right path since being a True Wanderer ambassador further defines my passions. I make sure that every project I take on reflects my character and personality, so in a way, I feel very blessed and privileged to have a brand such as Wrangler support my passions.

What are your favorite places to visit within the Philippines?

My heart belongs to the North. When heading North, La Union will always be my first stop.

I love visiting the North for its long coast, waves and mountains — Vigan, Pagudpod, they’re all very beautiful places.

Could you name some things you could never travel without?

It really depends where I’m headed. But of course there’s clothing, communication (like my mobile phone) and energy (for my battery and my body ) — that includes my battery pack and food. Cash is also important since ATM’s aren’t easily accessible in some areas. Then there’s my “kikay kit” which has all my essentials. A small flashlight, candles, matches and a few bike tools. Water too to make sure I stay hydrated.

What’s a place you hope to travel to someday?

Maybe I would go, let’s just say… Himalayas. It should be on everyone’s bucket list.

What has travelling taught you about yourself?

Travelling can be a challenge. And if there’s one thing that travelling has made me realize, it’s that I’m not a great planner. It’s also made me realize how pampered I am.

As an actor you have people do things for you. It’s something I’ve been trying to veer away from.

I’m slowly letting go of that by doing things on my own. Travelling has also made me realize that I can always be a better version of myself.

What’s your most memorable True Wanderer experience?

I would say, it’s the time I’ve spent with the riders (the contestants). I remember sitting in the Wrangler office and looking through all the entries submitted — the amazing photos, wonderful stories and adventures.

As a rider, when you get to read up on their adventures, see the pictures and watch the videos, you understand kung gaano kahirap ‘yung journey na ‘yun.

Seeing the spirit in every submission was really the most memorable part.

Are you Wrangler’s next True Wanderer?

Going on its third year, Wrangler has once again joined forces with the Department of Tourism, their ambassador Jericho Rosales as well as Open Road Heroes Sabs&Poy and surfer Jeff Ortega in their search for the next True Wanderer.

Unlike the previous years, the contest is not limited to bikers, instead, the contest is open to all types of wanderers who willingly take up the call of adventure.

One lucky adventurer (and a friend) will be treated on an all-expense-paid trip to Batanes, P100,000 worth of Wrangler products, plus the title of a Wrangler True Wanderer.

The Mechanics:

· Contest runs from March 3 to April 19.

· Interested applicants must post on Facebook (maximum of 3 entries per person) a travel photo captioned with your story of why you are an Open Road Hero and the hashtags #TrueWanderer and #Live2Wander. Don’t forget to tag Wrangler’s official IG @wranglerph and Facebook.
