Dewy, radiant, glowing — these are just some terms used to describe the mainstream idea of beauty. Another one? Natural.

Rather than caking one’s face with foundation and powder, many have fallen in love with a no-makeup makeup look. This means using makeup products to cover up blemishes and create a bright and wide-eyed look — without making it obvious that you are, in fact, using makeup. The whole fascination behind this trend is the idea of effortless perfection.

The notion of having a glowy yet natural look might seem impossible without your Instagram filters, which leads us to the question: how do you balance a naturally flawless look?

Here are six steps to achieve it:

1. Tinted Moisturizer

Light, airy, and most importantly, dewy — forgo your typical makeup prep, the tinted moisturizer has you covered. If you don’t need heavy coverage, this is the easiest way to even out your skin tone. It’s a more lightweight version of foundation, with extra hydrating benefits at the same time, leaving your skin with a natural glow.

Simply apply a pea-sized amount of the product evenly on your face with your fingertips, just like you would with a normal moisturizer!

2. Concealer

Still have dark circles and red spots peeping through your tinted moisturizer? Fret not! It’s easy to correct them with a concealer. Lighter than foundation, a concealer is used to target only certain areas of the face.

For blemishes, lightly dab and then blend the concealer into targeted areas. For your undereye area, pat the concealer lightly to create a more subtle effect.

Tip: Use a hydrating concealer for a little extra glow.

3. Cream blush

A cream blush blends into your cheeks, giving you a natural, rosy look

Unlike powder-formulated blushers, a cream blush has a more subtle effect. It’ll give you a healthy flush that stays longer than a typical powder blush!

Gently pat the cream blush on your cheeks in a circular movement with your fingertips, and build it up from there.

4. Eye Shadow

Forget the metallic glittery worlds of Pat McGrath and Urban Decay. Instead, try something new and pick a single matte shade that’s just slightly darker than the color of your eyelids. A warm hude is recommended to help enhance the shape of your eyes while still keeping it natural-looking.

Use your finger or a dense rounded brush to blend the eyeshadow into the crease of your eye sockets.

Tip: If you’re feeling adventurous, also blend your eye shadow along your lower lash-line to make your eyes “pop”.

5. Mascara

Be sure to not share your mascara wand to avoid any eye infections!

Whether it’s a girls’ night out or a lazy Sunday brunch, skipping out on mascara is almost a cardinal sin. This is the one step that makes all the difference. It helps to darken and define your eyelashes, making your eyes look wider and more awake.

Apply two coats of mascara onto your top lashes, and a coat on your bottom lashes.

Tip: Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara for a more doll-like look.

6. Lip tint

Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with naturally rouged lips. Fortunately, however, we have lip tints to help out with that. This Korean beauty staple has been adopted across the globe, with Western makeup brands such as Australis and The Body Shop releasing similar lip products. Lip tints are versatile in terms of shades, and appear more sheer on your lips, giving you a youthful and rosy look. Plus, they have a long-lasting effect!

First, it helps to prep your lips with a lip primer for hydration. Apply the lip tint onto the center of your lips and spread it out evenly with your fingertips.

Tip: For an even more glowy look and a pouty effect, apply gloss over your lip tint.

And there you have it! Our six steps to achieve a natural, radiant look. You can opt to finish off with setting spray for an extra dewy finish that’ll last the entire day.
