5 Makeup Products That Remind Us of Mean Girls
On Wednesdays, we wear pink.

Though released in 2004, the impact of Mean Girls is still one we can feel up to this day — a whopping 18 years later. With unforgettable quotes ingrained in our brains (especially every October 3rd), a slew of iconic scenes that have earned this film plenty of memes we still chuckle over, and even lines in popular songs alluding to the film, it’s safe to say that Mean Girls was one of the biggest cultural phenomena of its time — it’s sequel could never.
In honor of this once-in-a-lifetime comedic gem, we decided to give our leading ladies a special mention by doing what we beauty lovers do best: makeup recommendations, of course! Here are the top 5 makeup products that remind us of the cast of Mean Girls.
Cady Heron

Played by Lindsay Lohan, Cady Heron is the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed newcomer whose experience with the inner machinations of high school life is abysmal, to say the least. She quickly draws the eyes of the school’s A-Listers, “The Plastics”, and becomes somewhat of a double agent for Janis and Damian on the mission to cause said group’s demise. Her clueless naivety drives her into plenty of complicated situations that push and pull her from plotting against the popular girls or joining them, eventually leading to her own unraveling.
Fun fact: Lindsay was originally up for the role of Regina George but was cast as Cady instead because her fans wouldn’t accept her as the villain.
Why We Love Her Look:
With eyes filled with hope and cheeks rosy, Cady is the image of innocence, made even more apparent by her main character glow. This cream-to-powder highlighter by Sunnies Face can bring a gorgeous, sheer shimmer to your look for a subtle Cady-esque glow.

Regina George

Regina George is the queen bee. Everything she wears becomes a trend — even the laughable cut-out tee (you know what we’re talking about). Conniving, manipulative, and always ready to use her power to get what she wants, Regina is not a girl you want to be messing with. Though her sense of superiority was greatly challenged by Cady’s secret agenda — even losing her metaphorical crown to the latter towards the end — her frightening determination to keep herself on top makes her all the more intimidating.
Why We Love Her Look:
Evil as she is, Regina is still undeniably a beauty. Always dolled up and always fabulous, she emanates queen energy — for good or for bad. Though many of her looks do toggle between pink and neutral lip shades, we particularly love the warmer tones on her. This Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick is possibly the reincarnation of Regina George in a bullet tube — fabulously dressed on the outside with a little mischief on the inside.

Gretchen Wieners

Gretchen, played by Lacey Chabert, is undeniably the gossipmonger of The Plastics. To quote Damien, “That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets.” However, while she is Regina’s faithful right-hand woman, she doesn’t appear to be as mean as she’s made out to be — unless under the influence of Regina, of course. Flighty, jealous, and susceptible to spilling secrets, perhaps, but not mean per se.
Why We Love Her Look:
Gretchen’s gorgeous, V-line facial structure is already enviable in the first place, but the way her features are amplified by a lovely wash of color and light contouring really makes her cheekbones pop. We think this duo from Benefit is a great way to achieve just that. With Benefit’s best-selling Hoola Bronzer, as well as their iconic Benetint, you can easily bring warmth and shape to your face to get that Gretchen Wiener lightly sculpted look. Now, that’s fetch!

Karen Smith

Karen Smith is undoubtedly one of the most memorable and beloved characters of Mean Girls — and not only for her ESPN. While she does appear to be ditzy and clueless most of the time — which she is aware of — and is very easily influenced by her friends, she’s actually quite sweet. The source of many of the lasting quotes of the film, Karen is truly such a fun character to watch.
Why We Love Her Look:
We all know Amanda Seyfried is an incredibly gifted actress, able to take on a variety of different personas that make us fall in love with her more and more each time. In her role as Karen, we’re shown a lighter, cuter side to her, emphasized by her plump, blushing cheeks. NARS’ most popular blush shade, ‘Orgasm’, is the perfect, natural-looking flush of color anyone could use to achieve Karen’s bubbly look.

Ms. Norbury

While she may not be one of the main characters in the typical sense of the word, we still think Ms. Norbury deserves a little time in the spotlight. Not only does this character play a pivotal role in Cady’s adolescence, but she’s played by Tina Fey no less — literally the woman whose unique sense of humor adorns the screenplay of a movie so memorable, it’s still being talked about in this day.
Why We Love Her Look:
Sharon Norbury is a simple gal, but that’s not a bad thing. Plus, just a tiny bit of eyeshadow can make a load of a difference. That’s why we love TheBalm’s Nude Beach palette. It has the right everyday colors for your everyday makeup looks, even if that means just a light wash of color over the lids and some definition on the outer edges of your eyes.
